CCPM in numbers

The Scottish Government is improving access to food, water and energy for thousands of people in southern Malawi.

47,197  (24,640 female and 22,436 male) people are registered and participating in the programme.

8,647 households are registered and participating in the programme.  (4,269 female headed households, 4,346 male headed households, and 32 child headed households).

A total of 97.5% of participating households under the CCPM have experienced a climate shock, such as drought, dry spells, or flooding.

One third of CCPM participants report eating only one meal a day during the lean season.

67.6% of participating households in the CCPM have limited or no access to water for domestic and agricultural use, and spend anywhere from 35 - 104 minutes per trip to fetch water for household use.

78.8% of participating households in the CCPM have limited or no access to renewable energy.
